Empowering High School Students for Successful College Admissions
Shubhra Chandra is a fashion entrepreneur, educational consultant, artist and singer. She has worked in the global fashion industry since receiving her Master of Arts Degree in Clothing and Textiles (Fashion and Costume design) at the College of Human Ecology from Michigan State University. She has a Fashion Design Diploma from the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T. / NIFT program). Shubhra graduated from Lady Shri Ram College (Delhi University) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics
with honors.
In 2008, after a corporate career working for global retail fashion brands (Limited Inc, Victoria’s Secret, Sigrid Olsen, Talbots, Inc), Shubhra started an online, sustainable fashion brand www.shubrah.com. She continues to create fashion and art as an entrepreneur. In 2020, she received the Certificate for Women Entrepreneurs from Cornell University (Bank of America Institute for Women Entrepreneurs). She started consulting and advising students on their creative portfolios and college applications when her daughter was in high school and wanted to present her photography to college admissions offices. Since 2015, Shubhra had focused on high performing students who want to apply for Liberal Arts studies in the top 100 colleges in the USA (including Art, Fashion and Music colleges). Shubhra has two children who graduated Lexington High School, Lexington, MA in 2016 and 2019. Her daughter went to New York University (graduated 2020 and is working in NYC) and her son went to Harvard College (graduated 2024 and is working in Boston). She has volunteered for decades on several non-profit educational boards in the Town of Lexington, MA, where she has lived for over 30 years. She is also an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). Shubhra is a Charter Member of TIE Boston – fostering entrepreneurship.
